Submit a wish
To schedule a request, we need a completed intake form. You can complete this form using the button below. Our planners will contact you as soon as the intake form is received.
During our opening hours, we'll often contact you within an hour to discuss the options and schedule your request. After you submit your request, we'll take care of everything else—tickets, reservations, etc.—not just transportation.
We have 3 types of wishes
These are requests that must be fulfilled the same day they arrive. Generally, one of our ambulances can depart for the patient within an hour.
2. Regular wishes
These are all other requests that are received and take place in the Netherlands. These requests can often be fulfilled within 1 to 2 days of submitting the intake form.
3. Foreign wishes
We also travel abroad with special requests. A maximum of 3 to 4 days per request, including travel time.
Costs
We fulfill wishes entirely free of charge . Stichting Ambulance Wens pays all costs during the wish day for the patient, two family members/acquaintances, and our two accompanying volunteers (driver and nurse).
Length of time
Our wish days don't have an end time. Our wish planners simply agree on a start time, and then the volunteers are available all day.
For Whom
We fulfill wishes for anyone who depends on lying down in ambulances. Most of the wishes we fulfill are for terminally ill patients, but we also fulfill wishes for people who are hospitalized due to an accident and need to attend a funeral or wedding.
Jan Bot's (78) last wish: “One more time to the beach”
78-year-old Jan Bot was terminally ill and in the hospice in Berkel en Rodenrijs. He and his wife used to frequent the beach at Hoek van Holland.
In Jan Bot's final years, volunteers at the hospice asked if he wanted to do anything before it was over. "I would love to go to the beach one more time," says Jan Bot. The volunteers didn't hesitate and immediately called the Ambulance Wish Foundation, which arranged a final wish for Mr. and Mrs. Bot.
