About the foundation

  • Founded: The Ambulance Wish Foundation was founded in 2007 by ambulance driver Kees Veldboer Sr. After his death in 2021, his son Kees Veldboer Jr. took over the day-to-day management, along with a close-knit team and hundreds of volunteers.
  • Goal: We fulfill the final wishes of people who are no longer mobile. We don't just arrange transportation, but the entire wish: from preparation to fulfillment. Our specially equipped ambulances, drivers, and nurses ensure that every wish is safely, lovingly, and fully supported.
  • Target group: People who can no longer be transported independently or regularly.

Facts and figures:

  • Number of wishes fulfilled: almost 25.000 (expected in January 2026)
  • Number of volunteers: more than 300 (drivers, nurses, promotional volunteers and board members)
  • Number of ambulances: 10 specially equipped ambulances
  • Average number of wishes per day: 7 to 10
  • Working area: the whole of the Netherlands, with occasional trips abroad

Financiering

Our work relies entirely on donations, gifts, and sponsorship. With these, we travel tens of thousands of kilometers annually and fulfill thousands of wishes, always completely free of charge for the patient and their family.
