A visit to Breda in Concert took an unexpected and special turn for one of our patients. While he was visibly enjoying Wolter Kroes's performance from the stretcher, he was noticed by the singer.
Wolter didn't hesitate for a moment, climbed off the stage, and walked over to the gentleman. There, he sang especially for him, gave him a hug, and even let him sing along with the microphone for a moment. A spontaneous gesture that brought a big smile to the patient, his loved ones, and our volunteers.
The gentleman was able to attend the concert thanks to the Ambulance Wish Foundation. When someone is seriously ill and no longer mobile, attending an event can seem practically and medically almost impossible. With our specially equipped wish ambulances and the accompaniment of a nurse and driver, we try to make such last wishes possible nonetheless.
Wolter Kroes later shared the moment on his own social media channels. He said that he saw the man on the stretcher singing along and felt that he had to go to him. He also thanked the patient for coming and wished him and his loved ones strength.
We are incredibly grateful to Wolter Kroes for his personal and spontaneous gesture. The gentleman visibly enjoyed it and gained a memory that no one could have planned in advance.
RTL Boulevard also paid attention to this special concert moment.
